These Are the Days…

I used to think this song was written and performed for those having a great high school experience, you know the prom queen, head cheerleader, you know who I'm talking about. Even though I was not any of those things, I still thought… "Yep! These are the days!" as I roamed the halls during one of my two "study halls" senior year.

A couple of years later, while going to college some of the time, and working I had a great time. I had finally found a great group of friends and had tons of fun with them at the local dive dancing the nights away. Occasionally, I would hear Natalie Merchants unique voice crooning, "These are the days you might fill with laughter until you break." And again thought song really defined my life at the time.

I heard this song today while getting dinner started/sweeping the floor/laundry and wiping runny noses. And while typically I don't think I will want to remember the dirt, piles upon piles of laundry and snot I will want to remember these average Tuesdays. Days where being the personal tot stylist, preschool chauffeur, gourmet chicken nuggets and tater tot lunch maker, reader of pre-nap books, tucker-inner, snack maker, bringer of endless cups of milk, laundress extraordinaire all before 1pm are the norm. There are many days that are like this where I have had it. I am frustrated that I am doing yet another load of laundry, not getting to do what I want when I want how I want. But today I after hearing, "These are days you'll remember. Never before and never since, I promise, will the whole world be warm as this. And as you feel it, you'll know it's true that you are blessed and lucky. It's true that you are touched by something that will grow and bloom in you." I am blessed and lucky and I hope that these are the days they'll remember as days mommy played and snuggled and read an extra book.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Isaac is really into recycling lately which is great because Boonshoft has a new recycling exhibit where you sort glass, paper & plastic into a garbage truck --- that sounds like a real garbage truck --- and then press a lever and do it all over again! He had a great time and Megan loved being at the wheel!
