Bitten

So, this whole week, Isaac has had some tummy troubles, but just at night and he was his usual playful and funny self, so I figured it was some sort of mild bug.
Well, it is no longer in the mild form... it is a full blown colony! Poor little guy.
First thing this morning, he got sick. Luckily, Mark hadn't left for work yet and ran to grab some Sprite and a 'hope you feel better McQueen toy'out of our stash, leftover from Christmas. Isaac loved the McQueen... not so much the Sprite... "it's too spicy" he says. I should mention that this was the first time he has ever had soda, and I was anticipating a totally different response. I was waiting for the "where have you been all my life?" instead he asked for non-spicy water.

The good news is Megan hasn't shown any signs as of yet, however, she has made it her personal obsession to drink out of every cup Isaac has used today and "helped" by using the towel I used to cover up the latest mess to grind it further into the carpet... if wondering where I was during the cleaning, I was doing the back rub/equivalent of holding hair back while puking.

Becoming a Diva / Playing in the snow.

Isaac has been dying to get out and play in the snow. With temperatures in the single digits and it getting dark so early, we hadn't made it out.... until last night.
Mark came home early just so he could take Isaac out in the snow --- what a great dad!
So after one more trip to the restroom, just in case, we spent twenty minutes getting Isaac bundled up. Finally, he was ready!

Meanwhile....

Megan was not happy at all about being left out of the fun. At first she took it pretty well, staring longingly out the window saying in the most pitiful voice ever, "Daddy, up! Up! Up Daddy!" Which of course I was the only one who could hear. So in the name of fairness, I bundled her up and sent her outside.

She loved the snow. From the second we walked out, she was elated. Isaac did a great job sharing his sled, and even offered to push her in it.

After about 15 minutes (which felt like an hour), and mittens that wouldn't stay on, I dragged my daughter kicking and screaming inside. If she was "unhappy" before we went outside, she was down right livid upon our return.

In her anguish, she tried to climb up the door to get out and when she decided it wasn't going to work, threw herself into the coat closet screaming until Mark & Isaac came back in... which, thankfully, was less than five minutes later.
When most people meet Meg, they comment on what a good, happy baby she is... if they could see her now!!!

The Price of Wholesome Family Fun:

Rented shoes…. $2:50 per pair (Isaac lovvvved his rented shoes!)

Lane Rental…. $4.00 per person (after six frames, Isaac asked if it was over each time he bowled)

Healthy Bowling Alley Dinner (cough, cough) for kiddos….. $7.00 ( a not-so-grilled cheese, fries and gigantic soda for Mark and I to share)

The most exciting part of the evening, playing with the Daytona racing game…..$0.00 (Seriously, did you think I would pay for him to play this game when he doesn't know any different?!?!?!

Rollin' down the alley

What do you do when it's too cold to go outside, but you just need to use some of that penned up, toddler/preschool energy? You go bowling!!!
We had a blast! Isaac was able to get the ball to the pins (with the help of the "gutter bumper") which made him super excited. Meg was having fun running around until she decided she was ready to push the ball herself. Mark came to the rescue (of course!) and tried bowling while holding her.
The fun and excitement lasted for 1 1/2 games and then it was all about the french fries and grilled cheese.
We will definitely be going back... probably sooner than later seeing the weather forecast on the news....
Hope everyone is staying warm and toasty!!

Another Birthday...

Last Monday, Mark turned 32.... I have never known him to have any difficulty with his age, but this one has thrown him off a little. "Too close to 35, which then is too close to 40" and he just can't come to grips with the big four-oh.... good thing he has eight more years to find a way to deal!!!

I made his favorite dessert - which is no small feat since he "doesn't care for" desserts- a Boston Cream Pie and we had pizza for dinner with some friends over to watch the Buckeye game. I think he had a good time and hopefully will find comfort in his old age! I love you, Mark!! Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Mom!

My mom's birthday is on Christmas Day. So to give her special day the attention it deserves, we celebrate a couple of days afterward. This year we went to Steph's house and had a great spread of delicious food which included, baked bree, farmhouse chicken and peanut butter cake. Brenda and Ove were able to come as well and we had a great time.

Happy Birthday Mom! We love you!

Happy New Year!!

We celebrated the new year with our friends, Mandy, Vaughn, Sophia and Cate. We had a great time making homemade pizzas and ice cream sundaes. While the kids played and watched a couple of movies the adults played cards and games. Four years ago I never would of thought I would have fun on New Years without going out on the town but it turned out great! Oh how things have changed! Isaac and Sophia made it to midnight to see the ball drop, while poor Meg and Cate pooped out early.

Here's to a happy and healthy 2009!!

First kiss of the year from my handsome hubby!

A toast with Isaac to ring in the year!

Mmmmmm.... pizza!
