Trick or Treat

I was hoping to have really great pictures from our trick or treating adventures, but unfortunately, I do not... I 'm not lovin' my camera right now... Santa are you listening? Anyhow, here are the photos I managed to get...

Isaac had a party at school today, and even though all his classmates wore their costumes the entire time, Isaac refused to put his on... I was a little irritated because I wanted to at least get one picture of him, but now in hind sight I'm glad he was able to be strong and not follow the crowd if he didn't want to!! I hope he will be this way in high school too!

Here's a run down of the evening....
Put our costumes on, roasted hot dogs and chili with our neighbors for dinner.
Mark took Isaac the Spider around the 'hood to collect some loot. Meanwhile, I gave Meg her first taste of candy and let her have a lollipop. She loved it! You wouldn't believe the death grip a pot of Pooh's Hunny could have on a lollipop!!
The boys came back we warmed up by the fire, then I took Isaac around to a few last houses. We came home got our jammies on and put Megan to bed, then Isaac watched Pooh's Heffalump Halloween while I cleaned up and Mark handled a few stragglers!

Happy Halloween!!

To those of you who do not live around here, for some crazy reason we always have Beggar's Night on the 30th. I have no idea why we do this, however it drives Mark crazy!!!

Carvin' Pumpkins

Pumpkin Carving at its finest... after the farm this weekend, we had been waiting for the perfect time to carve our Jack-O-Lantern! Mark has been under the weather, but he sucked it up and got to carving right after I cleaned up the kitchen after dinner... naturally.
Our big, 21 pound pumpkin had a ridiculously thick rind and was really tough to get open, but once inside... pumpkin guts galore!!! Isaac only wanted to use his spoon to scoop, but once Mark dug in with his hands, Isaac followed suit. He liked the cold, slimy feeling. Isaac got a little bored with the scooping, so he began driving Doc Hudson on it and drawing - with an orange marker - "here's his shoulder and an ear, here is the nose and knee..." who knew old Jack had all of those parts!?
We finished the evening by watching It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.
If you are wondering where Miss Meg is, she was so miserable and cranky that she wasn't having any fun, so I put her to bed while the boys carved the pumpkin!!

My Vignette

Shabby Apple is having a contest where you can win an incredible outfit!
So here is my submission! Hope you enjoy!!!

There once was a girl, who dreamed of being a wife,
Starting a family and creating a beautiful life.
After three years of marriage we had a handsome son,
Two short years later we had a daughter -who just turned one.
I love my family and staying home with my brood,
However, sweatpants, dirty diapers, and endless laundry spoil the feminine mood.
I am trying to combine all the aspects above,
Without losing the woman I was and still love.
So here is my vignette, one that would make me feel divine,
As I go about the blissful days in this lovely life of mine.
The dress was the hardest decision to make,
With all of the gorgeous choices this one is the one I would take.
The bag, the shoes the wonderful beads!
This is the outfit… the one that I need!
Of course, I would not be able to wear it every day,
But when I can put it on I will feel like a woman in every way!!

Just Me and My Boy!

Isaac and I were being silly, and even though some of the pictures look like he is biting me he is actually making the moi sound after giving me a kiss!!

Fun on the Farm

We made our annual trip to the Pumpkin Farm. We usually go a little earlier when it's still nice and warm, but we have been so busy lately, that this weekend was the first opportunity we had to go! Mark was at an alumni event, so he didn't get there until we were ready to leave!!! Although, he did make it in time to find the biggest pumpkin left on the lot!!

My friend Annie and her kids came with us and the boys had a great time! They played on the playground and rough housed in the hay... which Isaac was thrilled with -- he usually doesn't have anyone his size to "tackle". Drew had fallen asleep on the way there and was sort of out of it for the most part... until the previously mentioned tackling commenced.

The highlight of the trip, as always, is the tractor hay ride. Windmill Farms, makes it extra muddy which Isaac was captivated by... "how did it get so muddy?" and the ever famous, "why is it so muddy and dirty?". There are two steep hills and some scary decorations out on the trail... all in all the perfect hayride!
Once we were home, Mark said, "wouldn't it be fun to own a pumpkin farm?". Now I'm obsessed with the idea. I know it's a long shot, but I can dream!

got bananas??

Meg loves her bananas. She loves them so much that she insists on shoving the pieces I give her into her mouth and with whatever mushed up banana is left on her hands goes straight into her hair! That's my girl!

Isaac Goes to Work...

This morning Isaac went to "work" so early he forgot his pants! He was very busy putting up and taking down "stoplights". He had red, green and blue paper strips that he was sticking on the door with magnets. How they became the lights, I'll never know, but he seemed very pleased when he said, "I gotta go now, mom, I gotta make more stoplights."
This career change is new to me. Usually, he goes to work at JoAnn's... you know the craft store!!! My kinda guy!

Bats are everywhere!

We decided to make some Halloween decorations, and what's better than bats?!?! So I traced the kiddos feet and hands and cut out most of them as well, but the two bigger kids, Isaac and our friend Sophia glued their own bats together.
Notice how Isaac's bat has his eyes placed. In college I learned that it is the "process, not the product" that is the most important thing when it comes to kids and art. In theory, I totally agree, however as a mother, I want his bat to be "right". When I saw how he was placing the eyes on his bat, I didn't say anything, if this is how he wants it, then that is fine by me... and it is. Really. There should be more crazy eyed bats around... don't you think?

Fall is for football!

Right now if you ask Isaac wants to be when he grows up it's a football player. He is going to ask Santa for a "tiger" football helmet... a real one!
Mark is more than willing to oblige when it comes to throwing the ball around.

And a pretty sunset to end a great weekend!!

Grandma's Are the Best!

Mark's mom and sister's family came down for a quick visit. Isaac loves sharing his wealth of knowledge about Cars -- the movie-- with anyone willing to listen and Megan had a great time playing peek-a-boo! It was a great visit and we are looking forward to the next one!

My parents are headed off on a week long vacation to Cancun tomorrow with their friends Brenda and Ove. Us girls met up this morning for some breakfast at First Watch and a quick trip to Target. Here is a picture from Meg's party of Gram and Agatha! Have a great time! We will miss you!

My Dearest Husband,

I know things have been very busy around here lately. I appreciate you and all that you do. I know that you work very hard and have been very busy at work lately with little down time... however, is there really any reasonable explanation for this....

I love you so much! Thanks for keeping things interesting... sometimes frustrating, but interesting none-the-less!

Look Who's One!!!!

Well, my baby had her first birthday! We celebrated with a party on Sunday with family and a few friends.

Megan had a great time, especially when it came to the cake -- Although I maybe should have rethought the bright pink icing!!

Never a Dull Moment!

While doing some outdoor chores Isaac went missing.... anyone know where he could have possibly gone?

And afterwards, Meg tried to see just how many goldfish she could fit into her mouth at one time.... I think the total was about 7 or so.

A Brief Intro...

As you can see in my profile, I am a stay at home mom of two incredible kids, Isaac & Meg.

This is Isaac. Very funny, very sweet and all boy. His current obsessions are:
Anything to do with Lightening McQueen or any other Cars character, sports, specifically football and learning how to count to 100. He started preschool this fall and loves it. He loves to make people laugh and to "make a deal" which means, "how about we do what I want"... He also starts sentences with phrases like, "when I was little," or "when I was a baby". He is already asking when Santa is coming... oh boy.

And this is Meg. She is about to turn 1 next week and it breaks my heart to type that. She is a little firecracker. She is learning to walk, but after about 2 or 3 unsure steps, she decides that crawling is much quicker.
"daddy", or more appropriately, "daDEEEEEEE" and "na na" which means goodnight.

And I'll have to work on getting a good picture of my main squeeze, he is a little camera shy....
